About CreditMonitored.com

CreditMonitored.com explains how credit reports, scores, monitoring, freezes, locks, and identity theft recovery work in the United States.

CreditMonitored.com is an independent consumer-credit publisher. We are not a credit bureau, bank, lender, or credit-repair service, and we do not make credit decisions. Our role is education: turning public, authoritative sources into plain-language guides.

What we cover

Our guides cover eight areas: credit scores, credit reports, credit checks, credit monitoring, credit freezes, credit locks, credit profiles, and identity theft. Each guide explains a focused question, cites the public sources behind its claims, and links to related glossary terms.

How we work

We research using public authorities such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Federal Reserve, and the text of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). We do not cite competitors and we do not publish invented statistics, reviews, testimonials, authors, or credentials.

How we are funded

Some links on this site are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission when a reader follows one. This never changes the price a reader is quoted, and it does not influence which topics we cover or what we write. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

Important limits

Everything here is general educational information, not financial advice. It does not describe your individual credit file and does not create a professional relationship. For decisions about your own credit, consult a qualified professional.
